We are pleased to announce that the Annual Meeting, Elections and Education Conference(EXPO) will be held May 4-6, 2012. Please put it on your calendars!

The 3 day workshop will be Cupping as presented by A.C.E. Massage Cupping. The additional classes will be finalized and posted in January.

Michigan Chapter Meritorious Award

In addition to the fantastic education opportunities April 15-17, and the informative annual meeting with elections, we will be voting on who will receive this years Chapter Meritorious Award. This is given to someone in acknowledgement of their diligent volunteerism that is done in an altruistic manner. Can you think of anyone that fits that category? If so, please nominate them for this prestigious award! The only rules for this particular award in addition to the above, is that they have been an AMTA member for at least one year, and there can only be one given per year. See amtamassage.org under Chapter Meritorious Award for the specific wording.

EMS EXPO- Exciting outreach opportunity

Every year we are part of the EMS Expo in Grand Rapids. We have been invited back again to provide chair massages to the participants who are attending the Expo.

Dates: Friday April 29th and Saturday April 30th

Our Membership is growing, and we’d like to extend a warm winter welcome to the following members who have transferred in-

Our new Professional members are

As Professional members, if you would like to attend any of our board meetings, meet the board, pick up your AMTA-MI pin, and find out how to get involved with short or long term projects, we would love to meet you!! We gladly accept suggestions, too, so bring your best ideas!

New Student Members this month are:

Candice Byrne, Kendell Chilkiewicz, Jennifer Cole ,Joseph Harrison, Devon Linderman, Lyndsey Travis, Jaime Turbett, and Angela Welch-Kumar.

We hope to see all our student members attending Student Day at our AMTA Expo in April. Student Day is Saturday April 16, with special FREE education, meals and inclusion in our lunch/elections/business meeting. We’ll be happy to ‘pin’ you at Student Day, so plan now to join us!

Legislative Update

In the final days of the lame duck session, the grandfathering issues within the state law were rectified. The issue will be further addressed at the next meeting which will be in March. Applications are not yet available.
