National Board Retreat – Notes and News from the President
‘Meet me in St. Louis’….where the National Board is having their board meeting, and Chapter Presidents from all 50 states have converged! That’s what happened June 3-5, and it was an experience I was excited to be a part of. I don’t know if any AMTA members have wondered about how our organization is run, or thought much past what happens at the chapter level, so being a part of the ‘big picture’ really helped me gain perspective, and I’d like to share that with you. National Board Drafts New Mission Statement in St Louis!
Following are the proposed changes to the AMTA Mission Statement. These were drafted by joint efforts of the National Board, the Chapter Presidents and the National Staff. These proposals will be fine-tuned and released in completed and polished form later this year. Take a look, and see if this aligns with your mission as a massage therapist. What do you think?? Welcome to the New Chapter Secretary
At the Board Meeting on June 13, your AMTA-MI Board of Directors elected Annamarie DeSantis to fill the position of Secretary. Annamarie is a graduate of the School of Orthopedic Massage and BodyWork in Ann Arbor, and is nationally certified. She is the owner of ‘Soul 2 Sole’ private practice, and is a workshop instructor and educator on natural products and essential oils. Additionally, Annamarie works at Beaumont Hospital, in their massage program. She brings a wealth of experience from both her corporate background and her clinical and teaching skills that we will all benefit from. Annamarie will hold the position of Secretary until our April 2011 elections, when she can choose to run to fill the final year of that two-year term.
