Everest Institute Grand Rapids hosts AMTA-MI Representatives

The Massage Therapy program at Everest in Grand Rapids graciously invited AMTA-MI 1st VP Meida Olliviera and 3rd VP Jerry Lundgren to present AMTA benefits to their classes. The dynamic duo were warmly recieved and presented to 21 students in the morning class and 10 students in the afternoon class, with pizza and networking on the break. Kudo’s to our volunteers!!

The Michigan Chapter of the AMTA were asked to participate in the Susan G Komen Walk for the Cure on August 14. We provided chair massage to the walkers, and a few volunteers, as part of the Energizer tent. 8 massage therapists and one support person attended the event, on a sultry near-90 degree day with high humidity. It’s a Michigan Summer!

I hope that all of you are enjoying the dog days of summer, and the great corn, blueberries and abundant Michigan produce. It’s a little too humid for me personally, but I keep recalling winter and reminding myself to be grateful! We are blessed with abundance in our state, in garden abundance, heat or cold, and now even in volunteer opportunities. Many of you have been checking your ‘in boxes’ and have noticed the many appeals to donate your time and talent. In part, this may be due to the fact that schools are not sending students out into the community as part of their student experience.
